ProService Install Guide

About Us

An independent guide to AV and low-voltage installation.

ProService Install Guide is an independent information resource covering television mounting, home cinema, security cameras, network cabling and commercial AV installation in the United States.

What we do

We explain how these installations actually work: which bracket suits which wall, what a job realistically costs, where electrical code applies, and which parts are reasonable to do yourself. The aim is that a reader can either do the work confidently or brief an installer properly.

What we are not

We are an information publisher, not a contractor. We do not perform installations, employ technicians, hold a contractor licence, sell equipment, or take bookings or payments. Where you need work carried out, engage a licensed installer directly and confirm their licensing and insurance.

How we handle the code questions

Several topics here touch electrical code and privacy law — in-wall power routing and security camera audio recording in particular. We describe the general position and say plainly where rules vary by jurisdiction. We are explicit that this is not legal advice, because the consequences of getting those two wrong are not cosmetic.
